The Florida Highway Patrol was called to duty to help wrangle a stray emu Saturday after reports of the flightless bird walking along Polk Parkway near Lakeland.

Troopers responded to a call around 8:30 a.m. regarding the emu seen walking along the highway, also known as State Road 570, near mile marker 16.

Upon arrival, they were able to corral the Australian bird into the rear of a Road Ranger vehicle until its owners arrived and completed the recovery.
