Superior Court judge dismissed a breach of contract lawsuit filed against Redd after he canceled a Christmas Eve performance at the Kennedy Center in protest of President Donald Trump\u2019s influence over the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=3207\">First came Congress. Now a national redistricting battle may turn to statehouses and city councils<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The dismissal on Friday was granted under Washington\u2019s Anti-SLAPP laws, which are designed to prevent meritless lawsuits intended to silence opposing points of view on matters of public interest.<\/p>\n<p>Redd, a drummer and vibraphone player who has toured with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Ray Brown, had presided over holiday \u201cJazz Jams\u201d at the Kennedy Center since 2006. He called off last year\u2019s performance shortly after Trump\u2019s handpicked board at the Kennedy Center voted to add the president\u2019s name to the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Center sued Mr. Redd because he publicly and rightly objected to adding Donald Trump\u2019s name to the Kennedy Center, a living memorial to former President John F. Kennedy,\u201d Lisa J. Banks, one of Redd\u2019s lawyers, said in a statement. \u201cThe lawsuit against Mr. Redd was political retribution, pure and simple, by the Trump Kennedy Center, and the Court correctly saw it as such in dismissing the case with prejudice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=3205\">Trump dismisses idea that Iran betrays his \u2018no new wars\u2019 campaign message<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Redd told The Associated Press in an email Saturday morning that he is \u201cvery pleased with the judge\u2019s ruling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The motion to dismiss, filed in March, argued that Redd wasn\u2019t contractually obligated to perform.
