{"id":4818,"date":"2026-06-20T17:34:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T17:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=4818"},"modified":"2026-06-20T17:34:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T17:34:00","slug":"freedom-plane-brings-americas-founding-documents-to-south-florida-for-historic-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=4818","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Freedom Plane\u2019 brings America\u2019s founding documents to South Florida for historic exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>The \u201cFreedom Plane\u201d holding nine seminal fragments of the American Revolution landed this week in South Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=4816\">MAHA\u2019s treatments for autism: Camel\u2019s milk, stem cell injections \u2014 and spelling therapy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Miami elected officials, Miami Museum\u2019s CEO and a team from the National Archives Foundation welcomed the plane Monday on the hot tarmac at Opa-locka Airport, as the founding documents from 250 years ago arrived for their stay in the Museum of Miami for a two-week exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cFreedom Plane National Tour\u201d is an exhibition curated by the National Archives, in which the nine documents travel to eight museums across the U.S. in honor of the country\u2019s 250th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>The Museum of Miami will display the documents to the public from Saturday to July 5, but the exhibition was opened to donors and elected officials in a ceremony on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Miami\u2019s diversity made it a perfect candidate for the exhibition, said National Archives Foundation CEO Patrick Madden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know how we would do this exhibition without Miami, because Miami really represents the melting pot,\u201d Madden said. \u201cIt represents America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the rare documents: the original Treaty of Paris, oaths of allegiance signed by George Washington and Alexander Hamilton and an engraving of the U.S. Constitution from 1823.<\/p>\n<p>Madden says these documents are emblematic of the compromises that formed the American Revolution.<\/p>\n<p> <!--Ad-Slot: outstream_video--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody can sort of see themselves in them because the founders came from other places, other perspectives, and came together to form this democracy,\u201d Madden said. \u201cSo the idea that Miami has all these different cultures and diversity of conversation, that\u2019s exactly what the founders were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=4814\">Mourners bury a 6-month-old Ebola victim, marking third orphanage death as Congo outbreak spreads<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The documents sit on tables under thick glass cases in the museum\u2019s north building, where visitors can be inches away from these pieces of history.<\/p>\n<p>Madden hopes visitors\u2019 physical engagement with these documents encourage a \u201ccivic spark\u201d and encourage them to play a role in seeking a \u201cmore perfect union.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter your age or generation you can look at this and ask, \u2018This is what they thought the country should be. How do I play a role in that today? What\u2019s my role in continuing democracy or what I want to see out of this country?\u2019\u201d Madden said.<\/p>\n<p> <!--Ad-Slot: cube_article--><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition also contains U.S. Senate markups on an early draft of the Bill of Rights and a state delegation voting record on a draft of the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Natalia Crujeiras, CEO of the Museum of Miami, finds these \u201cworks in progress\u201d to embody the spirit of sacrifice and engagement that defines democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you see these documents and you see an early annotated version of what became the Bill of Rights, and it\u2019s scratched and rewritten, it bears witness that these founding fathers disagreed on the path forward,\u201d Crujeiras said. \u201cThey had different ideas of what the path forward was, but they stayed at the table and they negotiated, and they built the first experiment on self-government in our history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She hopes that the \u201cFreedom Plane National Tour\u201d encourages Miami residents to reflect on what it means to be \u201cMiamian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you love a place like when you love a person, you do extraordinary things for them,\u201d Crujeiras said. \u201cWe want people to get involved, to appreciate the history of Miami, to feel pride in this incredible place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=4808\">Can wearing a glucose monitor make you healthier?
