The First Academy teammates, who have known each other for many years through a friendship developed at FBU camps, have both committed to play college football at Bowling Green State University.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=5222\">Hot, humid temperatures and afternoon lightning storms expected<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coleman was first to take the plunge, pledging to the Falcons during a campus visit to the Ohio school on June 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told (head coach) Eddie George before anybody and they were all excited, ecstatic,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cHe had the whole coaching staff come in and dap me up and stuff. It was surreal. All of the hard work I\u2019ve put into this. Someone wanted to take a chance on me, and it worked out.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>TFA\u2019s multi-talented Brian Dillard taking his skills to Tampa and USF<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"8Ho6TfkJ1d\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"282\" loading=\"lazy\" marginheight=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" scrolling=\"no\" security=\"restricted\" src=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/06\/19\/tfas-multi-talented-brian-williams-taking-his-skills-to-tampa-and-usf\/embed\/#?secret=rxqDDAv58i#?secret=8Ho6TfkJ1d\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cTFA\u2019s multi-talented Brian Dillard taking his skills to Tampa and USF\u201d \u2014 Orlando Sentinel\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After that, he put on the BG recruiting push, enticing Furtado to take a visit, and the ensuing trip turned into a commitment from Furtado, as well, this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the pair are also side-by-side in the Sentinel\u2019s current 2027 Central Florida Super60, ranked Nos. 10 and 11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told coach (Richard) McNutt to watch JP and to watch some of our guys,\u201d Coleman said, \u201cand I told JP it\u2019s a good school, and it\u2019s a spot where you can play early. You\u2019re in the middle of nowhere, so there are no distractions \u2026 so he did it.<\/p>\n<p> <!--Ad-Slot: outstream_video--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was excited, definitely, because that\u2019s someone I know coming to the same school with me, so I was definitely hyped. They called me as soon as he committed, coach McNutt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furtado said Coleman\u2019s commitment certainly played a part in his decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt did. He gave me the gist of it and told me I was, \u2018really going to like it\u2019 and it was going to be \u2018a really good experience when you go up there.\u2019 He put a good word out for when I went up there so I was already expecting what I saw,\u201d Furtado said. \u201cThe main thing with my decision was the coaching staff, really.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a really fun experience, especially since I\u2019ve been knowing Coleman for years, so we\u2019ll probably head up there and be roommates and have a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <!--Ad-Slot: cube_article--><\/p>\n<p>Defensive line coach Clyde Simmons and defensive line analyst Lorenzo Styles were Furtado\u2019s main recruiters, as was McNutt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey seemed really excited when I told them,\u201d\u00a0 Furtado said. \u201cI\u2019m real fired up. I can\u2019t wait to head up there and have a good season when I get up there. It\u2019s a lot of relief. I already know where home is, so now all I gotta do is work and keep preparing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coleman said he was swayed by what second-year head coach George, the former Ohio State Heisman Trophy winner, has in store for the Falcons, who were only 4-8 last year, but the George era is in its infancy.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orlandorelocationreport.com\/?p=5220\">Editorial: Iran conflict will likely never add up for Americans, the world<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI picked Bowling Green based on relationships, and I think what Eddie George is doing over there is something special and I wanted to be a part of it,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cI chopped it up with Eddie George, and he\u2019s a really good person and a good coach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His main recruiter at BG was McNutt, who is the passing game coordinator and secondary coach for the Falcons and Coleman is excited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I could leave right now, I would go,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cWe chop it up on the phone here and there and they are good people. The campus was surprisingly beautiful. It\u2019s not as big as, I guess, a normal campus, but it\u2019s a beautiful campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coleman, who transferred to TFA from Sanford Seminole before last season, said the recruiting process can be a bit frustrating at times, but the 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback said it\u2019s all a matter of putting things into perspective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first I was (frustrated), but then I realized it\u2019s my journey. It\u2019s nobody else\u2019s, so that\u2019s what God led me toward,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cIt was most definitely frustrating, because some days it was like, \u2018Dang, I know I\u2019m better than this guy,\u2019 but when I stopped doing that, stopped comparing, it was just \u2026 I found that was the right move.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said it was difficult to pick between Bowling Green, Buffalo and Appalachian State, but in the end BG stood out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first it was because I didn\u2019t really know what I wanted, relationship-wise. But they got a plan for me and they\u2019re telling me like what their goal is for me and that\u2019s why I picked them,\u201d Coleman said.<\/p>\n<p>Furtado, a 6-2, 290-pound defensive lineman, said he also considered the recruiting process to be a bit frustrating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere and there,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I had people in my corner who really helped me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 season will be the first one in the past two years that TFA players can get back to the normal goals of fighting for positioning in the FHSAA state playoffs, having been banned from competing in the 2024 and 2025 seasons for rules violations. Both players said it lends a whole new anticipation to the upcoming year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited, like all of our guys, we want it this year.
