A Peruvian woman who traveled to South Florida from California for a job cleaning vacation homes was instead locked inside a brothel in Lake Worth Beach and sex-trafficked to numerous men, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, deputies arrested Diana Katherine Chaparro Contreras, 33, and Sandra Luz Peralta Aguilar, 50, on charges of sex trafficking an unauthorized alien, living off the earnings of prostitution, and two counts of keeping a house of ill fame, according to jail records.<\/p>\n

The victim told deputies in Spanish that she had been applying for housekeeping jobs on Indeed when she found one that offered $35 an hour, according to a probable cause affidavit. Over the phone, people who identified themselves as the employers behind the listing told her that she would be cleaning vacation homes throughout Palm Beach County and that they would pay for her to fly to Florida for the job.<\/p>\n

The victim was persuaded by the money they promised and agreed, arriving at Miami International Airport in February. Once she arrived, her employers told her they would provide her housing. An Uber delivered her to a house in the 1100 block of South M Street in Lake Worth Beach, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

There, she encountered two women and a man. A younger woman, later identified as Chaparro Contreras, identified herself to the victim as Karen, while the older one identified herself as Sandra. The man, who was not identified in the affidavit, went by the nicknames \u201cNegro\u201d and \u201cMoreno,\u201d according to the affidavit. The group told her they needed her Peruvian passport and documents for \u201ccopy purposes,\u201d according to the affidavit, then took them and left. At that point, Karen told the woman that her job would be having sex with \u201cclients\u201d who came to the house.<\/p>\n

The victim was taken to a bedroom with one window that was boarded up with plywood from the outside, according to the affidavit. A 15-year-old girl was living in another bedroom, the victim told deputies. The victim believed the 15-year-old was also being forced to have sex for money.<\/p>\n

That day she arrived in Lake Worth Beach, the victim was forced to have sex with seven men over the course of six hours, according to the affidavit, while the man she had met earlier collected the money. When she begged one of the men to let her go, he did not respond and had sex with her anyway. The brothel operators would lock the door to the bedroom every time a \u201cclient\u201d entered. A chain lock and iron security gate on the front door prevented the victim from escaping the house.<\/p>\n

In the early hours the next morning, the victim tried to get the 15-year-old to escape with her, but the girl said no, according to the affidavit. The victim then managed to break through the plywood covering her window, climb out, and escape.<\/p>\n

She told deputies that she delayed reporting what had happened to her because she was afraid she would be deported, according to the affidavit. The brothel operators had threatened to have her deported if she did not comply with their demands, telling her she had to think of her daughter back in Peru. The victim said she had come to the United States in order to send money back to her family in Peru.<\/p>\n

Detectives surveilled the house, as well as a second house on F street in Lake Worth Beach that became a new brothel, and identified Chaparro Contreras and Peralta Aguilar as suspects, according to the affidavit. They also stopped multiple men who said they were clients of the brothel and who did not have legal documents. One of the men was taken into custody by Border Patrol.<\/p>\n

Peralta Aguilar and Chaparro Contreras are also undocumented. They had their first appearances on Friday. Both are being held in Palm Beach County jail without bond due to their legal status, according to court records.<\/p>\n
