A 21-year-old Haitian man living with another family has been charged with sexually abusing the couple’s eight-year-old daughter, the Orlando Police Department said.

Widson Felix, who had been living as a roommate in the family’s apartment for several months, faces two counts of capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation, according to the arrest report that redacted the names of the victim and her family members.
The investigation began shortly after midnight on July 4, when Orlando police were called to the home. The victim’s mother told officers that at 8 p.m. the night before, she witnessed her daughter exiting Felix’s bedroom. At the time, she was home but her husband was at work.
When questioned why she was inside his room alone, the victim said Felix had told her to come inside. Confronted by the victim’s mother, Felix admitted to having sex with the child, the report said.
Officers later interviewed the child privately, where she disclosed that Felix called her to his room multiple times, and though she initially refused, she eventually entered. She described Felix laying on top of her and performing “weird” sexual acts that made her feel sad, mad and frustrated. The girl also said Felix removed her clothing and touched her breasts and buttocks on previous occasions.

An emergency search warrant was executed at the apartment on July 4, where investigators recovered Felix’s Haitian passport and photographic evidence.
The victim’s younger sister corroborated some of the allegations, reporting she witnessed the victim undressing and saw Felix closing his bedroom door with her inside.
Felix could face the death penalty, if convicted of his charges. He was booked in the Orange County Jail on July 9 and is being held without bond.
