The funding, provided through the Federal Aviation Administration, will be used to expand the terminal and add new restrooms, mothers’ rooms, and a sensory room for travelers with special needs.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy said the investment is part of a broader effort to improve the travel experience for families. “This administration is focused on making travel happier and more convenient for American families,” Duffy said.

The project is part of the Airport Terminal Program under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is distributing $970 million to 133 airports across 45 states.

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the agency is prioritizing projects that improve accessibility and passenger comfort. “These projects will help create a more welcoming and accessible travel experience for families,” he said.

Other airports receiving funding include:

— Tupelo Regional Airport in Mississippi, which will get $2 million for a family screening lane.

— Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, which will receive $8 million to upgrade restrooms.

— Burlington International Airport in Vermont, which will get $150,000 for a children’s play area.

Palm Beach International Airport is set be renamed after the president as a result of a new state law. The airport detailed the name-change plans in a “frequently asked questions” post on its website.

“Although the required name change will become effective July 1, 2026, transition activities, including updates to signage, branding and public‑facing materials, will occur in phases,” it said. “Airport operations and services will continue without interruption.”
