A card game may have led to a deadly shooting in Winter Garden on Wednesday night.

Around 11:25 p.m., officers found Shariff Simmons, 49, collapsed outside, pronouncing him dead on scene. Before the shooting broke out, the victim and other occupants of the residence were playing cards, according to the Winter Garden Police Department.
Police have not made an arrest and are asking that residents with knowledge of the shooting contact the department.
“Based on the nature of the incident, it appears very targeted towards the victim, and we do not believe there is a danger to rest to the rest of the community,” the police department said in a statement.

The homicide took place at 778 Bethune Avenue. Based on online photos, it appears to be a single-family, one-story home in a residential neighborhood.
