The National Weather Service on Wednesday issued a flood advisory for much of Orange County amid heavy rainfall.

The weather service station in Melbourne issued the advisory around 2 p.m. after thunderstorms deposited several inches of rain across Orlando and a large swath of the county. The advisory was in effect until 3:45 p.m. and covered an area stretching from Oak Ridge north to Maitland and Pine Hills east to Conway.
“Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen,” the advisory said.
Flooded streets were reported in downtown Orlando near Lake Lawsona, including Thornton Avenue and Anderson Street.

The England vs. Costa Rica soccer match at Inter&Co Stadium was also delayed because of the downpour. Social media posts made Wednesday afternoon appeared to show that large portions of the stadium’s field were flooded.
The full area affected by the advisory includes: Orlando, Winter Park, Maitland, College Park, Pine Hills, Lockhart, Oak Ridge, Conway, Belle Isle, Fairview Shores, Orlovista, Pine Castle, Edgewood, Eatonville, Holden Heights, Sky Lake and the Orlando Executive Airport.
