Central Florida could see temperatures climb into the 90s with the heat index surpassing 100 on Friday while the day will see another threat of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

“Another day of scattered to numerous showers and storms is forecast across east central Florida today. Main storm threats include lightning, localized flooding and strong wind gusts,” the NWS stated, noting winds could reach 40-50 mph.
The heat indices, or fees-like temperatures, could hit 100-107 because of the humidity.

“Central Florida residents and visitors should remain well-hydrated and seek breaks in the shade or A/C during the heat of the day,” forecasters said.
