Twin 5-year-old girls died in an apparent drowning Friday at a vacation rental home in Kissimmee, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

OCSO responded to the house on 4710 Ruby Red Lane just after 11 a.m. after the girls were found unresponsive in the residential pool, an agency news release said. They were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where they were pronounced dead hours later.

The girls and their family were visiting from Georgia.

Agency spokesperson Capt. Kim Montes said homicide detectives are investigating the incident while the medical examiner confirms the cause of death.

As of Friday, 50 children were killed from drownings in Florida so far in 2026, with Osceola County leading the state with seven, followed by Orange County with six, according to the Department of Children and Families. Statewide, 17 drownings were of children between ages 4 to 8.
