A Seminole High School student was arrested Thursday after reports of a gun on campus, the Sanford Police Department announced.

The 17-year-old student, whom the Orlando Sentinel isn’t naming because he has not been charged as an adult, was found in a closet as school resource officers scoured the school looking for him. He was charged with possessing a firearm while under the age of 18, possessing a firearm on a school campus and disruption of a school function.

“I commend the swift action and bravery of the student that came forward reporting another student having a gun on campus,” Chief Cecil Smith said in a statement. “Those actions are a prime example of what we mean when we say, ‘see something, say something.’ … We have zero tolerance for anyone who jeopardizes the safety of students and staff in our schools.”

No injuries were reported, and no other details have been released.
