The Orlando Pride could not build off last Friday’s victory over Kansas City, falling 1-0 to the Boston Legacy FC at home Wednesday night.

“Overall, [we’re] disappointed with the result,” Orlando coach Seb Hines said. “Never fault the effort of the players. They always give 110 percent, but tonight just wasn’t our night.”
Boston (4-7-4, 16 points) scored the opening goal in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Barbara Olivieri fired off a quick shot to the far post that Anna Moorhouse could not save. The goal was Olivieri’s first for Boston.
“They took their goal well. Some quick combination play, but I feel like every goal is preventable. That’s just my mindset and how I think,” Hines added. “We can’t give other teams the opportunity to transition. We have to look after the ball.”
The Pride (6-7-2, 20 points) almost drew level in the 41st minute with a goal directly from a corner kick, but Jacquie Ovalle’s impressive delivery was ultimately ruled out. Ally Lemos was judged to have fouled goalkeeper Casey Murphy, taking away what would have been Ovalle’s second goal of the season.

Barbra Banda came on in the 60th minute, but Orlando struggled to create any meaningful chances even with the Zambian forward on the field. The Pride only managed to get two of their 13 shots on target all night.
Julie Doyle made her 100th appearance for the Pride as a halftime substitute. She initially filled in as a right-back, but moved further forward on the field as the second half progressed.
“Not every single player gets to hit 100 [games] and hit 100 at the same team, so I’m so grateful just for the staff and the organization for believing in me every single year and every single contract,” Doyle said. “I’m just really happy to be here.”
Orlando heads on the road to take on the Utah Royals next on Saturday at 8:45 p.m.
