One of his top priorities, according to his campaign website, is addressing the area’s rising housing costs. He thinks Florida’s skyrocketing insurance rates are making it too costly for families to live in the county. His website says will look to improve stormwater management and update the electrical grid to lower risk profiles for homeowners and drive insurance rates down.
A former member of the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District, he says he is passionate about environmental issues. He will work to transition all county-owned buildings to clean energy and advocate for taxing big developers and other “fossil fuel giants,” according to his website.
Education is another priority listed on his website. He plans to fund after-school programs, ensure public libraries remain free from political censorship and bring more affordable housing options for teachers near public schools.

Douglas’ website did not say how he would vote on the constitutional amendment to slash property taxes, how he would respond to data centers and their need for electricity nor what he viewed as the biggest environmental issue that needs addressing.
