“Evil Dead” star Bruce Campbell is opening up about his incurable cancer diagnosis, revealing that doctors have given him roughly five years to live.

“I’m in a five-year prognosis,” he said during an appearance on “The Adam Carolla Show” earlier this week. “With the type of cancer that I have, which I don’t want to get into, the current thing is a five-year deal.”
Campbell shared his cancer diagnosis back in March, explaining to fans that it was “treatable but not curable.” He vowed to remain positive then, and he is still trying to maintain that mindset despite the update from his doctors and his limited timeline.
“I’ve decided, though, pretty specifically, to live with it, not die from it,” he said. “The cancer rabbit hole is enormous. You can go into focus groups of 10,000 guys who have exactly what you have. I won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
The “Burn Notice” alum declined to discuss what type of cancer he has. Upon revealing his diagnosis, he said he planned to work “to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie ‘Ernie & Emma’ this fall.” The independent film — which he wrote, directed, produced and stars in — follows his character, Ernie Tyler, a widowed pear salesman, as he travels to scatter his wife’s ashes.

Campbell also explained that “professionally, a few things will have to change. Appearances and cons and work in general need to take back seat to treatment.”
A multi-hyphenate, Campbell is perhaps best known for starring in Sam Raimi’s cult classic “Evil Dead” horror franchise.
Beyond horror, Campbell spent seven seasons co-starring as the smooth-talking former military operative Sam Axe in the USA Network hit series “Burn Notice,” which aired from 2007 to 2012. He also played the title character in the series “Jack of All Trades” and starred as Autolycus, the King of Thieves, in “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Xena: Warrior Princess.”
