A motorcyclist died after a head-one crash that involved three vehicles in Sanford on Friday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 58-year-old Sanford man on a 2025 Kawasaki Versys 1100 was riding westbound on Celery Avenue at 5:31 p.m., according to an FHP crash report. Heading eastbound on Celery Avenue approaching North Beardall Avenue was a 2013 Ford Focus driven by a 25-year-old Deltona man. Also heading eastbound on Celery Avenue was a third vehicle involved in the crash, a 56-year-old Deltona man driving a 2007 Toyota Avalon.
The report states the driver of the Focus began passing traffic in a no-passing zone and entered the westbound lane in the direct path of the motorcycle rider.

The Focus hit the motorcycle head on, causing its rider to be thrown off. The Focus then rotated and collided with the rear left of the Avalon, the report said.
The two car drivers were not injured and remained on the scene.
The motorcycle rider was transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital and pronounced deceased.

This crash remains under investigation.
