Orlando Science Center is planning to unveil a new exhibit based on thrill-seeking athletic activities. “Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits” debuts at the Loch Haven Park museum on Saturday.
The displays will focus on the science and psychology of adventure sports, including rock climbing, bicycling and walking a high line. Participants will be able to take on some physical challenges involving balancing on a not-so-high line and completing a parkour course. There’s also a virtual race and a simulated wingsuit activity. Also available is a virtual whitewater river course.
The exhibit features real rock walls, including kid-sized options. as well as the chance to get in a portaledge hanging tent like rock climbers use.
The exhibit includes “stories from around the world that highlight the unwavering perseverance required of athletes,” according to a news release.

“Beyond Human Limits” was produced by Science North of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in partnership with Ontario Science Centre.
Disney World conjures animation ‘props’ for new attraction
On Saturday, science center members can attend an exclusive preview beginning at 10 a.m. The exhibit opens to the public at noon. It is included with regular admission to the science center. It will remain in Orlando until Jan. 3.
