Universal Orlando has moved up the closing date for the Fast & Furious — Supercharged ride at Universal Studios Florida theme park.  The last day to experience the attraction will be Aug. 16, Universal officials have confirmed.

In January, Universal warned that the ride, based on the multi-installment “Fast & Furious” movie franchise, would close sometime in 2027. That announcement coincided with the resort’s announcement of a new roller coaster called Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.  That thrill ride is now under construction on the former site of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster, which operated from 2009 to 2025.

Supercharged, which opened in Universal Studios’ San Francisco section in 2018, uses curved screens to simulate street racing through a city, although the ride vehicles are referred to as party buses.  The attraction and its queue feature appearances by actors from the film series, including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster.  The building previously housed the Disaster! attraction, which replaced Earthquake: The Big One, one of the park’s opening day attractions in 1990.

A replacement for Supercharged has not been announced.

There is visible evidence of progress on the Hollywood Drift coaster, including the rail section for its 170-foot-tall “spike” that encroaches on the Universal CityWalk area.  It is scheduled to open in 2027.

Universal Studios Hollywood also has a coaster named Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift in the works. The design of the two thrill rides differ, Universal said in January.  The California version, expected to open this summer, has been in a test-ride phase. No official opening date has been announced. It will feature 360-degree rotation of vehicles and a top speed of 72 mph.
