Three people were hospitalized after nearly colliding head-on early Sunday morning on Interstate 75 in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 22-year-old Ocala man, driving a Toyota Tacoma, was traveling southbound the wrong way in the northbound lanes of I-75, while a 57-year-old Texas woman was traveling northbound on I-75 in a Land Rover.
Officials said the two vehicles collided nearly head-on south of Florida’s Turnpike, near mile marker 327, and both drivers suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

An adult male traveling as a passenger in the Land Rover from Texas suffered critical injuries and was also transported to an area hospital.
State troopers said it was unknown where the Ocala driver began driving in the wrong direction.
