DeLand continued its hold on the No. 1 spot in the Sentinel’s Super 16 despite a Week 2 loss. But after a losing a hard-fought battle against the nation’s No. 2 team, St. Frances Academy of Baltimore, 49-35 the Bulldogs did lose three first-place votes.

DeLand received all 15 first-place votes last week as the unanimous No. 1. The Bulldogs received 19 points overall from the 17 coaches voting this week. Coaches cannot vote for their own team.
The First Academy, after holding off Edgewater 21-14, garnered two first-place votes and moved into the No. 2 spot with 41 points, a jump from No. 4 last week. Jones, which was idle, stayed at No. 3, Edgewater dropped from No. 2 to No. 4, and Lake Mary, the third team receiving a first-place vote, remained No. 5, after a late field goal pushed the Rams past Oviedo 24-23.

Making their returns to the poll this week, after dropping out a week ago, are Kissimmee Osceola at No. 15 and Winter Park at No, 16.
