A 22-year-old Central Florida motorcyclist died after failing to stop behind a semi-truck trailer hitting its rear on Sunday morning on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP crash report stated the rider, from Ormond Beach, driving a 2024 Honda CBR500R, was traveling eastbound around 3:46 a.m. on I-4 east of State Road 44 in the inside lane behind the 2025 semi-truck with a trailer driven by a 61-year-old Miami man.
A roadblock from a traffic crash ahead caused the semi-truck to stop. The motorcyclist failed to stop, which resulted in striking the rear of the semi-truck’s trailer, the report said.

The rider was pronounced dead on the scene, while the semi-truck driver was not injured and remained at the crash site.
