Three famed Disney creatives will make up this year’s Legends Panel during IAAPA Expo.

The session will feature Bob Weis, former president of Walt Disney Imagineering; Joe Rohde, retired Imagineer; and filmmaker Leslie Iwerks. The Legends Panel is scheduled for 4 p.m., Nov. 18, during the annual gathering of Orlando-based International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions at the Orange County Convention Center.
Weis was with WDI from 1980 to 2022, including a five-year stint as its leader. Among his development projects were Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Shanghai Disney, Tokyo Disneyland, the expansion of Disney California Adventure and the introduction of Disney Wish to Disney Cruise Line. Rodhe’s Imagineering resume includes being the lead designer for Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park and for Aulani, the Disney Vacation Club resort in Hawaii. He retired from WDI in early 2021. Iwerks’ films include 2007’s “The Pixar Story,” 2019’s “The Imagineering Story” and the recently released “Disney Worldbuilders.”
The panel, marking its 24th year, again will be moderated by Bob Rogers, founder of BRC Imagination Arts and author of recently published “Deep Story,” Rogers also will be featured solo in an IAAPA educational session Nov. 16.
In addition, the trade association announced a Nov. 16 Lunch and Learn with Andrew Bolstein, president of Shanghai Disney Resort, and a Nov. 18 Leadership Breakfast with Joe Pine II, co-founder of Strategic Horizons LLP and co-author of “The Experience Economy.”
