But SeaWorld’s annual pass members are scheduled to get previews of the ride starting Saturday. Platinum pass members can start riding at 3 p.m. Saturday, joined by gold-level card holders on Sunday, then silver and bronze passholders from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.

The attraction introduces new visuals and a fresh storyline, extending in the queue, representing an Arctic research outpost.

On the ride itself, visitors will see high-def erupting volcanoes, frozen landscapes as well as wildlife including seals, sperm whales, polar bears, beluga whales, during a watery virtual plunge.

Justin Newton, senior vice president of project delivery for Orlando-based United Parks & Resorts, says Fire & Ice is one of the most immersive attractions it has created.

“From the moment guests step inside the Arctic research station, every detail has been designed to fully transport them into this frozen world and leave
them questioning how it was even possible,” Newton said in a news release.

The original version of Expedition Odyssey debuted in May 2025 in the building that once housed the theme park’s Wild Arctic simulator attraction. That first, now retired, iteration featured polar bears and orcas. The ride system, designed by German company Mack Rides, remains in place. The new version is intended to make better use of the ride system, SeaWorld officials said last month.

The height requirement remains at 39 inches.

In Expedition Odyssey, passengers sit side by side in long rows, legs dangling, facing a large domed screen. The visuals are enhanced by the movement of the seating and coordinated special effects.

The attraction continues to have real-life arctic animals on exhibit as part of its exit. That area was refurbished in the lead-up to last year’s debut of Expedition Odyssey.
