By Monday morning, the average price of a gallon of regular, unleaded fuel was at $4.06 a gallon statewide, while the national average was at $4.36 a gallon.
That’s a further two-cent decline since AAA’s weekly update detailing Sunday averages, which highlighted the drop in price as the lowest costs Florida had seen in four weeks.
That week-over-week drop was 29 cents, meaning drivers on average were spending $5 to $7 less to fill up a tank, AAA stated.
But even after Monday’s update, the price remains 11 cents more than prices one month ago and $1.01 more than prices a year ago.
The most expensive markets were West Palm Beach-Boca Raton at $4.28, Gainesville at $4.23 and Fort Lauderdale at $4.18 a gallon.

The least expensive markets were all in the panhandle, with Pensacola at $3.92, Panama City at $3.93 and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $3.95 a gallon.
In Central Florida, Lake County has the least expensive fuel at $3.96 a gallon followed by Seminole and Polk counties at $3.97, Orange at $3.99, Osceola at $4 and Brevard and Volusia counties at $4.07.
AAA stated price drops were tied to a drop in oil prices that came down nearly 10% in the last two weeks.
“The G7’s decision to release 100 million barrels from emergency reserves, along with improving oil exports from the Middle East, helped calm supply concerns,” AAA stated in a press release. “As a result, crude fell from above $100 per barrel in mid-September to $91.11 on Friday.”
