The shooting death of Christina Grimmie in Orlando was national news 10 years ago, although it was drowned out from the tragic Pulse nightclub shooting that happened the same weekend.

The rising 22-year-old star had just performed a concert at The Plaza Live on a Friday night, touring after gaining fame as a finalist on the NBC show “The Voice.”

She was murdered by a fan after the show as she was signing autographs. As she approached to give him a hug, Kevin James Loibl, 27, pulled out a gun and fired. The singer’s brother Mark Grimmie tackled Loibl, but Loibl shot and killed himself.

Her fans had come to The Plaza Live to pay respects on June 10 in the years following her death.
