There is a 40 to 60 percent chance for rain in the afternoon and evening, according to NWS Melbourne.

Storm dangers included frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 55 mph and heavy rainfall.

Rain chances are expected to diminish around 9 p.m.

Afternoon highs are in the low to mid 90s with heat index values peaking at 107 degrees.

Looking ahead, a “significant heat wave” is coming to Central Florida beginning on Wednesday, according to NWS Melbourne.

High temperatures will be in the 90s each with maximum heat index values at 110 degrees.

There will be many areas with moderate to major risks for heat, with some areas of extreme heat on Thursday and through the weekend.
