Supreme Court stretches the limits

The U.S. Supreme Court’s low public approval rating has many causes, and one is its broad interpretation of the president’s “inherent,” not expressed, presidential power. This is not an interpretation of the Constitution, but a political opinion. Article II provides that “The executive power shall be vested in a President…” and further requires that the president “shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” In my view, these provisions assign the president the responsibility to carry out the laws — not make them. The majority of the Court’s belief in the broad elastic ever-expanding power of the president threatens both the rule of law and the constitutional limits that have safeguarded our republic for more than two centuries.

What’s next, America?

For months we prepared to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. We did it up proud! I adorned my home with all things patriotic. We remembered our past and realized that through the triumphs and tragedies we have faced and survived over these years, America is the greatest country, abundantly blessed by God.

Celebrations are over, but now I ask: What’s next, America? We face extreme areas of tension all around this great nation: immigration, wars, clashes in doctrines and being at odds everywhere we turn. Unrest, violence, hatred and a lack of unity abound.

America has been a resilient nation. Where challenges entered, our determination, imaginations, creativity and dedication to keep America strong have reaped blessings and success.

Our future is up to us, our children, grandchildren and beyond. Decisions will be made by the votes we cast for elections. The outcome of the choices will either empower or destroy the America most of us love. We are a melting pot of nationalities, races, cultures and beliefs. We must compromise to find healthy decisions.

But there is one  quality America must embrace: We must bring God back to our nation! 2 Chronicles 7:14 speaks clearly: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive them and will heal their land.” This challenge goes out to each American. It’s up to you.

Socialism is not the answer

Affordability is the weasel-word of this election cycle. Every two-bit candidate without an articulable platform argues for it and blames its absence on the incumbent.

Fear not, the Democratic Socialists of America have the answers: Outlaw price increases and mandate minimum wage hikes.

Taking a cue from Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani has outlawed rent increases. Rents no longer keep pace with costs, taxes and inflation. The mayor has turned residential rentals into a financial suicide pact for property owners. What could go wrong?

Maduro infamously set price limits on food, fuel and toilet paper. Now every Venezuelan can afford these items, but Caracas store shelves are as empty as Alexandra Ocasio Cortez’s promises of socialist prosperity. The young voters who voted the Democratic Socialists into power have made their demands crystal clear.

As the journalist and satirist H.L. Mencken quipped: “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

Not a dress rehearsal

Wake up, voters: This is not a dress rehearsal.

Your despot leader has said that if he had his way, he will do away with elections.

Think about all the damage he has done to our beautiful country so far. In my view, we are no longer respected by our foreign allies, the poor are getting poorer, and his wealthy minions are getting richer at our expense.

I think the White House should be called The Gold House.

Every airport, street and public establishment will be renamed for him, at taxpayers’ expense. Too many of our children have been taken off Medicaid.

Last, but not least, I ask: Is this the land of the free and the home of the brave? He embarrasses us with his derogatory name-calling, which of course is heard all over the world.
