An Orlando teenager was arrested Wednesday on a charge of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old last month.

Brandon Sir Nevaeh McCloud, 18, was arrested after an investigation found he had handled a gun in a careless manner, resulting in the child’s death, the Orlando Police Department said in a news release. He is in custody at the Orange County Jail.
Orlando police responded around 11:30 a.m. July 17 to reports of a shooting at the Stella West Apartments complex just off Silver Star Road, a short distance away from Evans High School. The four-year-old was found with a gunshot wound and later died at the hospital, the release said. Police did not say if the child was a boy or a girl.
The investigation into the death is ongoing, they said, and no other information was included in the release.

McCloud was previously arrested July 28 on a charge of resisting officers without violence after he fled police who were trying to collect his DNA as part of a search warrant. Officers used a Taser on McCloud after he didn’t listen to initial commands to stop, court records show.
His arrest affidavit in that case doesn’t say if the warrant was related to the investigation into the child’s death.
