The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving two motorcycles that killed one rider and injured another on Innovation Way near Alafaya Trail in east Orange County early Sunday morning, according to a press release.

Both motorcyclists were traveling northbound around 1:41 a.m. above the speed limit, and failed to negotiate a curve, the release said. As a result, the riders ran off the roadway and collided with a curb, causing both to be thrown from the motorcycles.

The motorcyclist riding a 2015 Yamaha FZ-09 struck a fence and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second motorcyclist, riding the 2022 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14, was transported to Advent East Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, officials said.
