Florida State wasn’t prominent in the preseason All-ACC team selections announced Wednesday evening, but its sole honoree was a well-deserved one. The Seminoles struggled to 5-7 last year, but wide receiver Duce Robinson earned his flowers.

In his junior campaign — and first with Florida State — Robinson posted 56 receptions for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns. His 19.3 yards per carry were top-10 in the conference. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound receiver led the Seminoles in receiving yards, nearly doubling up on the team’s second-most productive receiver, Micahi Danzy. And his ability to flourish despite Florida State’s lackluster year was represented in the tally.
Robinson received the third-most votes (131) of all the selections, behind only Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney (164) and Clemson Tigers linebacker Sammy Brown. He also ranked fifth in votes for conference preseason player of the year, receiving 12, as Miami quarterback Darian Mensah topped that vote.
This is not his first taste of ACC recognition, as he was named to the All-ACC first team after last season and was also awarded third-team All-America honors.

The receiver’s season with the Seminoles has been by far the most productive of his collegiate career. Before heading to Tallahassee, Robinson spent his first two seasons with the USC Trojans. Across two years, he compiled 39 receptions for 747 yards, far less than his contributions in one season with Florida State.
Now returning to the Seminoles for his senior campaign, Robinson will be crucial to Florida State’s chance at improved results from last season.
