The vehicle struck the horses around 4:18 a.m. on State Road 44 and Donna Vista Place. The driver, a 56-year-old woman from Eustis, was not injured, but her vehicle was towed after undergoing “extensive damage,” said Trooper Migdalisis Garcia, an FHP spokesperson, in an emailed statement.
“It seems like the horses were okay,” Garcia added. “The owner was on-scene and took possession of them.”

It’s unclear how the horses became involved in the crash. An equestrian center is located near the scene of the crash, but a message left at the center was not immediately returned, and it’s not clear whether the animals came from there.
