The stage average for a gallon of gas is $3.89, a three cent rise from last week.

Although the price is 81 cents more than this time last year, gas prices have been relatively stable through the summer, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group.

Prices have fluctuated week-to-week, but the average state price has hovered around $3.92 over the last 45 days.

Since prices have been consistent, AAA doesn’t expect fuel prices to keep motorists off the road.

“Many Floridians have been paying around the same price for gas throughout the summer, so there isn’t a lot of sticker shock heading into the holiday weekend,” said spokesman Mark Jenkins. “People who have planned a Labor Day getaway are generally still taking that trip.”

The most expensive metro markets for gas are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.06), Gainesville ($3.97) and Naples ($3.95).

The least expensive are Panama City ($3.69), Pensacola ($3.70) and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.72).
