Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka and Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon have both announced an eco glamping tent experience coming this fall. Wekiwa Springs, best known for its emerald springs and tropical hammocks, will have four tents while Rainbow Springs, sought after for its swimming, tubing and waterfalls, will have five tents.
The “unique accommodations” are climate-controlled and complete with power, a coffee maker, a queen-sized bed and a separate dressing area. Details are not yet available about opening dates, nightly rates or how to reserve the special sites.
The glamping experience is managed by Adventures Unbound by Guest Services, the concessionaire that also runs rentals, gift shops and tours at Blue Spring, De Leon Springs, Hontoon Island, Homosassa Springs and Weeki Wachee Springs state parks.
The Oxford English Dictionary first published the word “glamping” in 2016, defining it as “a form of camping that involves accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.”
