Central Florida is under a heat advisory with the threat of heat indices ranging from 105-110 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

The advisory runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. as regular temperatures climb into the low to mid 90s across the region, but will be exacerbated by humidity.
“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the advisory warns. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.”
The warning states people should try to reschedule strenuous activities to early morning and evening.
“Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible,” it continues. “To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.”

The region is also in store for the normal Florida pattern of scattered thunderstorms as the east coast sea breeze moves inland into the afternoon.
“Storms that manage to form will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall,” forecasters said.
On the coast, there is a moderate threat of rip currents and 1- to 2-foot waves.
The hot conditions are forecast to continue through the week with temperatures in Greater Orlando expected to hit 95 degrees into the weekend.
