The Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France floated out MSC World Atlantic this week, moving the ship from the construction dock into the water to continue work on the cruise line’s fourth World-class vessel. The 215,863-gross-ton vessel, which has capacity for more than 6,700 guests and 2,500 crew, will sail weeklong voyages in the Eastern and Western Caribbean — including stops at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve — when it debuts in November 2027.
Similar to other World-class ships, including the Miami-based MSC World America, the new vessel is divided into districts and features more than 40 bars, restaurants and lounges. For thrill seekers, the MSC World Atlantic features the Cliffhanger over-the-water swing, which can be found on other World-class ships.
After the float-out, work will continue on the ship’s interiors, public spaces and final technical elements before sea trials and delivery to MSC Cruises next year.

More ships, passengers, money in store for Port Canaveral next year
Meanwhile, Port Canaveral is undergoing capital improvement projects to accommodate larger ships and more passengers. The port is currently working on a $95 million expansion of Cruise Terminal 10, making it 30% larger in time for the arrival of the MSC World Atlantic.
MSC Cruises has announced a total of four more ships in its World class, with ships five through eight due between 2028 and 2031. MSC World Atlantic — which is powered by liquid natural gas like its sister ships in the World class — represents the 25th ship in the MSC Cruises fleet.
