Occupation: Commercial Insurance Advisor

Hometown: Mount Dora

Age: 28

Political or civic experience: Chairman of the CRA Advisory Committee before the city decided to get rid of the committee. Now, I sit on the Parks & Recreation Board where I have for the last 2 years.

What is your top priority if elected?

My top priority is to get the city’s budget under control. I would like to see a fully itemized budget so that both council and residents can track every dollar spent. Since 2019, our General Fund has grown over 57%, yet I don’t see improvements in our roads, sidewalks, or other necessary infrastructure that residents rely on. It is time that the city prioritizes the needs of residents rather than items that no one asked for or does not improve our quality of life. Fiscal responsibility and transparency are one of the core pillars of this campaign.

What makes you the best candidate in the race?

Not only was I the first person to announce my candidacy over a year ago, but I am also the only candidate that has attended roughly 80% of council meetings and spoken at them the last 4 years or so. Everything that I have done over the last 4 years has been in preparation for this November’s election. If you notice, my two opponents have used the same exact platform that I set out over a year ago; however, I am the only one with a plan to execute. I am also the only candidate who was raised in Mount Dora, so I take this both seriously and personally. Residents may be concerned about my age, but I challenge them to not confuse age with knowledge. I have remained clear from day one – I will debate anyone, anyplace, at any time without having a list of questions prior. Voters should know that I am the only candidate to do that which I firmly believe you all deserve – this is election is about you! If I did not believe I was the best candidate, I would not be in this race.

What other issues would you tackle while in office?

We must slow down the high-density development. People often think that the Downtown District was what made Mount Dora special; however, I would argue that it was the outskirts of downtown also made Mount Dora special – many residents have brought this up. Because we are behind on infrastructure, it is highly possible that it could give us an opportunity to deny future development.

This Voter Guide was produced by the News Collaborative of Central Florida, a collective of independent local news outlets and aligned partners working toward a more informed and engaged Central Florida. Questions for the candidates were created by members of the collaborative and shared with candidates to answer. Attempts were made to contact all candidates to answer our questions – many responded but some did not. If a candidate did not respond, we have done our best to provide answers to our questions based on candidates’ websites, social media posts or public comments.
