Two teen girls were involved in an ATV crash, leaving one dead and the other injured in Volusia County on Sunday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol preliminary report.

Troopers arrived on the scene in Osteen of the fatal crash at 12:02 p.m. where they determined that the Honda ATV was traveling southbound on Pell Road south of Ashby Way, based on preliminary evidence.
The 15-year-old rider failed to maintain control, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its left side and was pronounced dead on the scene, the report said.

The passenger, a 13-year-old, was transported by family to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
