Week 3 of high school football has Friday games scheduled tonight, but weather is going to have a say in that with storms again rolling through Central Florida. Rain won’t always force postponements or stoppages — but lightning in the vicinity does.
Tonight’s slate has 10 Sentinel Super 16 teams playing at home. And the No. 3 Jones at No. 8 Evans “Soul Bowl” rivalry game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday. Before Friday, there was one makeup game on Monday and three Thursday night games.

Friday’s Super 16 games
Windermere at No. 4 Edgewater

Windermere (1-1) takes its first crack at Edgewater (1-1), which is 48-5 against Orange County Public School teams in a 10-year span dating to 2017. The Eagles play their final eight regular season games against OCPS foes.
Windermere (1-1) dropped out of its first appearance in the Super 16 after losing to Innovation last week, 29-26. That snapped a three-year 21-game win streak.
Wekiva at No. 6 West Orange

After two romps, Wekiva faces a huge test with both of these teams 2-0.
West Orange’s 38-14 win last season gave the Warriors a 9-8 edge in the series, which dates to 2007.
The Warriors junior quarterback, AJ Chung, has completed 281 of his 430 pass attempts (65.3%) over three seasons. He has nine TDs to zero interceptions this year.
No. 15 Osceola at No 5 Lake Mary

Lake Mary (1-0) rallied to top the Kowboys 17-12 in Kissimmee last year on the way to its 2025 state championship. The Rams are 4-0 against Osceola since 2013 with three very close games.
Melbourne Central Catholic at No. 10 Bishop Moore

Bishop Moore (0-2) cruised to a 42-13 win against MCC (2-0) last year, but this is a different Hustlers squad with a new coach in former UCF quarterback Ryan Schneider and a number of impact transfers.
No. 13 Lake Brantley at No. 11 Oviedo

Lake Brantley (2-0) outscored Oviedo 47-37 a year ago to snap a four-game winning streak in the series for the Lions (0-2).

Oviedo is ranked higher than the Patriots despite two nail-biting losses that went down to the wire.
Saturday’s Super 16 game
No. 3 Jones at No. 8 Evans, 4 p.m.

Orlando’s “Soul Bowl” game matches teams that are 7-7 vs. each other since 2005. Jones had a 5-0 streak going against the Trojans since 2015 before Evans scored its first win in the rivalry since 2009 last year. That was a 28-25 nailbiter at Jones.

Other Super 16 Friday games
No. 2 The First Academy at Port Charlotte
TFA (2-0), coming off a 21-14 win at Edgewater, plays a Pirates (1-1) team that went 11-3 last season — losing to Jones in a state semifinal 35-23.
No. 9 Lake Nona at No. 16 Winter Park
Lake Nona (2-0) goes to Showalter Field to face the host Wildcats (1-1) in a game where no love is lost.
Winter Park is 12-1 against the Lions with nine wins a row since 2017.
Eau Gallie at No. 7 Seminole
The Commodores (1-1) have made the playoffs five years in a row and were 12-2 Class 3A semifinalists in 2024.
Seminole is on a seven-year playoff streak (2019-25), including a 2020 state championship.
No. 12 East Ridge at Lake Minneola
The Lake County rivals meet for the first time in three years.
Lake Minneola (1-1) has owned the Knights (2-0) since they pulled out a 40-36 win in 2018. That ignited a string of six lopsided wins against East Ridge where the average final score was 53-7 from 2019 through 2024.
The Knights are clearly an improved team.
South Sumter at No. 14 St. Cloud
A challenging schedule continues for the Bulldogs (1-1), who lost 42-7 at Marietta, Georgia, last week after pulling out a historic win against Kissimmee Osceola. Tradition-rich South Sumter is 2-0.
